We were warned during the '67 war, that as long as we are limited to oil reserves in the middle east, our foreign policy and our economy will be "hostage" [the word "hostage" specifically chosen] to the fools, madmen dictators, and would be warlords of the near east.
Some of the those bloody oil soaked hands American leaders (both political and economic) have been holding, kissing, and fondling in between placing dangerous weapons in their hands.
We randomly it seems, armed and charmed this one and that one, with no eye beyond the short term interest. Well haven't those bloody chickens come home to roost.
With friends like the Saudis (sometimes), Iranians (sometimes), Iraqis (sometimes), Syrians (sometimes), Israelis (sometimes), the Taliban (sometimes), the Pakistanis (sometimes) and any of the others you might name. Who needs frenemies?
Now we're cozying up to the former Russian Islamic states for strategic benefits... Who won't we crawl in bed with for that stinking dirty product?
Maybe with the same money, maybe we could actually make these newer alternative energy sources viable?
You know maybe there is an alternative to killing and maiming millions more over the next century or so.... or maybe that's thinking outside the box of the LOBBYISTS WHO DRAFT OUR WEAK ENERGY POLICY.
Maybe the black tar sands of Florida's Newly Oil Rich beaches
may have drawn the line ... you know ... in the sand!

Like doing surgery 5,000 ft up?
What kind of fools do they think we are?
When the oil company "three stooges of pollution" finished pointing at each other the story they left on our doorstep was, after all “Stopping that leak is like doing surgery at 5,000 feet."
Ah excuse me, a few Americans that actually know about science. I mean some Americans do things much more difficult than surgery at 5,000 feet.
Example 1 - Nanotech Scientists have built little tiny little nano-sculptures using ATOMS for building blocks - Look Ma no hands there TEX!

Same propaganda again and again. Too bad you're not as cool-headed as your name might imply.
One again we get the same old rehash of the extreme-rights' slanders. Do your call your self a Christian? You seem to be unaware of the famous parable "He who is without sin, cast the first stone." Hands and heart clean IM?
Regarding Mr. Ayers, he did, in his youth harbor radical ideas, and he has paid his debt to society. He moved on to contribute to a better society as a respected educator. How do you contribute IM, have you recovered from your own youthful discretions?
Do you contribute, not just to hate and fear, but do you contribute as much to the education of today's youth?
RE The Minister who occaisionally preached at his church. Were you the victim of a Jim Crow society, and despite that, go to war to defend it, as did the Reverend, whom you desparage.
Some of us, fall short of Nelson Mandela's level of forgiveness - African Americans and Hispanic Americans even Native Americans still face serious life crippling discrimination every day. Might that make some of those folks a tad bitter at those who oppress them?
IM, if you are forty or fifty years of age, you lived through legal discrimination as did Rev. Wright. Not everyone can turn the other cheek all the days of their lives. I think your familiar with that terrain, IM.
And finally regarding the dreaded Homosexual Agenda... Humans have exhibited the same wide range of sexual behavior, for better than 50,000 years, and while I've heard wild charges about teaching homosexuality before, it never ceases to amaze me that despite the volume of these charges, there is never any data to back it up.
When you throw charges of socialism around, again and again, and again because, President Obama suggests that we might improve medical access for all Americans. You are aiming again at the wrong target. Object instead to the cavalier attitude of Insurance Company Executives or Pharmaceutical Companie's greed. If they weren't so greedy, as a society we wouldn't need to expand our medical rights.
If Wall $treet hadn't decided to plunder your houses value and your pension plan, maybe we wouldn't need to have more regulations. But as usual, IM your aim is off.

Worried about the RICH?

Well how many of those rich people you ask?
Well since 2% of the people own 98% of the resources probably not too many.
And when a rich speculator like Warren Buffet can say, that his secretary pays more taxes than he does??? - You worried about him?
Do you really think that giving poor people access to medicare is the country's BIGGEST PROBLEM?
When Ronnie Rayguns was trading missile parts with the Iranians and when the Bushies were playing patty-cake with their BLOOD-for-Oil brethren - the Saudis - You need to learn a little history - REMEMBER WHO IT WAS THAT WAS RE-DISTRIBUTING WEALTH - it was the guy who invaded a couple countries with a WAR that was "OFF THE BOOKS" - HOW MANY RICH PEOPLE are you worried about? - You who pay more taxes than EXXON and the Mercenary Chief at XE - You're worried for them?
Want to be angry at someone be angry at the speculators that ate your houses' value.
Cause the real robbers buy and sell your congressmen and then they write the tax laws, that have earned you Warren Buffet's pity.

(AP) — The University of Wyoming has canceled a speech by former 1960s radical William Ayers after it raised hundreds of objections from citizens and politicians over the man who became an issue in the 2008 presidential campaign.In a statement released by the university, UW President Tom Buchanan supported the decision to cancel Ayers.
It's hardly a compelling endorsement of academic principles when it shudders under a subsidiary clause like "a commensurate dose of responsibility"
Is it responsibility to buckle to the mob. Is it responsibility not to consider any voices or opinions that are not the generally accepted opinions? Is it responsibility to not listen to voices that might offend? Someone with a checkered past? Rules out a lot of political voices. Someone with a different political or philosophical perspective. Clears out a lot of religious underbrush.
Is that the the lesson that UW wants to teach it's students. Don't question the conventional wisdom. No redemption is possible, anyone who has been the victim of a public smear campaign regardless of any other merit cannot be tolerated. Smells like capitulation to the loudest voice in the mob.
So you offer pious platitudes and reveal yourself as hiding under the skirt of the politically flexible UW Social Justice Research Center, invitation withdrawn. Aren't you the fortunate one. Hide behind the fig leaf and pretend that you are responding to something other than the voice of the mob. Just pretend.
Americans just don't need any institutions that dare stand up to the noisy mob. No outsider ideas need apply. Conventional wisdom's just fine by you eh? Thanks for making that clear.

Axelrod taked Rove to task! on Ecomonic Comments
Trying to give the discredited, [yet to be indicted] "republican leadership" a lesson in fiscal responsibility, while a laudable and obviously well warranted goal, is a exercise in FUTILITY. They pretended the war was "OFF THE BOOKS".
These guys ran a multi-front war, contracting the largest mercenary force in human history, paid off WAR-PROFITEERS and never saw fit to prosecute any. With defense department leadership like DON "don't tell me anything I don't agree with" Rumsfeld, whose idea of warfare was the "THINGS HAPPEN???" And he had no way of even estimating what the war might cost. Rove's team told us the Iraq would cost us NOTHING! They actualy said, in case you forget, IRAQ would pay us to BLOW THEM UP, DEPOSE THEIR DICTATOR and OCCUPY their country!
I understand these scurrilous charges must be answered. But trying to get republicans to see beyond there internally verified [fact-free] reality is something - I hope they don't waste too much time on.
Besides, we don't negotiate with TERRORISTS - WHY are these guys - The BU$HCO War Syndicate -still not before the bar somewhere? I think there's probably a cell [in an undisclosed location] with an uncomfortable position with his name on it for sure!
I know, we can have Sister Sarah interview ROVE. [let's see he's TURD-BLOSSOM (right)] He can explain to her - whose pockets they put all that former federal surplus in???

Those who would resort to nuclear weapons to resolve international problems, basically establish the standard, and thereby open the door to similar "simple" solutions by others. We are not the only nuclear power in the world. Or hadn't you noticed.
One cannot negotiate with the irrational, however by using rational thinking you can certainly out maneuver them.
We made the jihadis what they are, we armed and trained them to fight our battles. We continue to invest in the Middle East because our energy agenda is hostage to the oil companies.
If we spent the money on energy development we spend on arming and "protecting" our OIL INTERESTS in the Middle East. We could have long ago had viable alternatives to Middle East oil.
During the 1967 war, our president tried to urge us to cut our dependence on oil reserves in Western Asia.
Nuclear War will not resolve our ENERGY RESOURCE PROBLEMS - nor will it accomplish anything more that kill many times the 3,000 innocents who died on 9/11.
Despite the fact that you cannot reason with fabulists who worship SKY CREATURES. There is nothing to be gained by murdering thousands of innocents in a nuclear attack. It's worse than irrelevant, it's abhorrent and casual genocide and must be understood as such.
